There are different types of cameras that are available right now. Some of the main camera types that are used are Canon 4D and Nikon D300. These two cameras may be compared to each other because they are made by different brands that are both famous in the world of photography.

Canon 4D has a 10.0 MP sensor. Nikon D300 comes with a 12.0 MP sensor. When it comes to the sensor area, Nikon D300 has a larger sensor area as compared to the Canon 4D. Overall, most people would choose Niko D300 over the Canon 4D. The only thing that people would choose Canon 4D for is for the size.

When it comes to cameras on the market, Canon and Nikon are two of the most popular brands of cameras. They are in direct competition with one another. Two cameras that have been released through the brands is the Canon 40D and D300 by Nikon. These are both DSLR cameras, which means they have the ability to change lenses.

One of the key differences between the two is the megapixels of each camera, which determines the camera resolution. The 40D has 10 megapixels. The D300 will have more megapixels, with 12. Another difference between the two is the amount of lenses that each offers, as the 40D has more lens offerings.

Canon 40D and Nikon D300 are examples of DSLR or Digital Single-lens Reflex cameras. Although Canon 40D and Nikon D300 offer much higher performance compared to other similar devices, there are still some differences between the two. The first clear-cut difference that most people would probably notice is the sensor resolution of the two cameras.

In this regard, the D300 is equipped with a 12-megapixel sensor, whereas Canon 40D comes with a sensor resolution of 10 megapixels. Although most people don’t bother about the small difference in their sensor resolution, Nikon D300 is usually preferred because of its ability to produce finer details compared to the 40D.

While Canon 40D can shoot at 6.5 fps, the Nikon D300 can only shoot at 6fps. However, the D300 can still shoot at 8 fps if it is used with an optional battery pack. In terms of cost, Nikon D300 is more expensive than Canon 40D.

The Canon 40D and Nikon D300 are models of DSLR cameras that fit into people's budgets and, at the same time, give a much higher performance.

Canon 40D is known to have a 10.0MegaPixel APS-C (22.2 x 14.8 mm ) sized CMOS sensor. On the other hand, Nikon D300 has a 12.0 MegaPixel APS-C (23.6 x 15.8 mm ) sized CMOS sensor. Nikon D300 has a larger sensor area than Canon 40D. Larger sensors afford the photographer more grip on the depth of field and blurry background compared to smaller sensors when shot in the same focal length and aperture.

There are 324 lenses for Canon 40D's Canon EF/EF-S mount. On the other hand, there are only 308 lenses for Nikon D300's Nikon F lens mount. Another striking factor is the possibility of image stabilization. None of these bodies have sensor based image stabilization, so you have to buy lenses with Optical stabilization feature. Currently, there are 112 lenses for Canon EF/EF-S mount and 106 lenses for Nikon F mount with IS.

Although Nikon D300 and Canon 40D are both high-end DSLR cameras, there are still some differences between the two. One of the differentiating features of the two is the higher megapixel sensor of Nikon D300. This may not be a big deal since the difference in the sensor of the two is very small. While Nikon D300 boasts of a 12-megapixel sensor, Canon 40D boasts of a 10-megapixel sensor.

Looking at the sensor of the two, the difference between them is just 2 megapixels. Another difference between Nikon D300 and Canon 40D is that Nikon D300 has a higher resolution LCD display compared to Canon 40D.

If you would be going for any of these two, I'm sure you would prefer the one that can produce finer images of moving objects. If this would be your choice, then Canon 40D has a very small advantage over Nikon D300. Unlike Nikon D300 that shoots at 5fps, Canon 40D shoots at 6.5fps.
