Microevolution includes small scale evolutionary changes within a single species population, and macroevolution consists of large-scale evolutionary changes. Evolution is a natural process that takes it’s time to come to fruition. Evolutionists and creationists possess different perspectives about development. Microevolution involves a modification in the gene frequency within a population.

It looks at the way of altering individual traits within the population. Microevolution is a sequence of changes that occur over the within a shorter time. On the other hand, macroevolution can take place for several thousands of years, and it illustrates how, for example, reptiles became birds. Since the evolution is complicated, many of the new species that evolves cannot mate with members of its ancestor species. Fossil data is heavily considered in macroevolution.

As their names suggest, macroevolution and microevolution are related to changes in the environment. To help understand the type of evolution that occurs, one can look at the beginning of the words. Macro stands for large, meaning that macroevolution will deal with large changes. Micro stands for small, which means that microevolution will occur with small changes. As the changes are large, macroevolution occurs over a long period of time. Microevolution occurs on a smaller scale. An example of macroevolution is a reptile turning into a bird. An example of macroevolution is the bacteria's resistance to new antibodies that may be produced.
