Balsamic vinegar is a type of vinegar that has been aged for 12 years or more. There are two types that are available namely dark and white. Dark balsamic vinegar is considered to be more common and it will also have a slightly sweeter taste as compared to white balsamic vinegar.

Dark balsamic vinegar is also going to have a bit more syrup taste as compared to the white one. White balsamic vinegar will have a cleaner aftertaste. Some people would choose white balsamic vinegar simply because it looks better than the dark one. If you are not too familiar with the differences in their taste, you will not notice the difference that much.

Both the white and dark balsamic vinegar are known to be Italian vinegar, but just as the name implies, one is white, while the other one is dark. Let’s discuss the white balsamic vinegar first. This vinegar is known to have a sweet and subtle flavor. As it is of clean color, it is served together with every light-colored food. This white balsamic vinegar does not make the food to change its original color, which is unlike the dark balsamic vinegar. You can use this vinegar in salad dressings, marinades, and light-colored sauces. In the case of the dark balsamic vinegar, most people consider it to be the real balsamic, and it is the most widely used vinegar. This balsamic vinegar has been in existence for quite a long time and also being well used since the middle ages. It comes with a thick color, and it is more expensive when compared to the white balsamic vinegar.

The taste of white and dark balsamic vinegar are highly similar to each other. If you have always tasted them, though, you will notice that dark balsamic vinegar is going to have a sweeter taste. It will also have a tendency to look like syrup. The white balsamic vinegar will have a cleaner aftertaste, which explains why some people may prefer this more. Another reason why people would like to use white balsamic vinegar more is it looks better. Take note that it will be hard to achieve the taste of balsamic vinegar if you have regular vinegar, but you can alter it a bit by adding other ingredients like sugar.

Balsamic Vinegar is a versatile ingredient that can be used in food dishes. There are two types of balsamic vinegar, which are white and dark. As their name suggests, white balsamic vinegar is light, whereas dark balsamic vinegar is dark. Due to the color, white balsamic vinegar tends to blend better with foods that are light, then dark balsamic vinegar.

Another difference between them is how long they have been around. Dark Balsamic vinegar has been around much longer than white balsamic vinegar. Along with the length of time they have been around, they also differ in price. Between the two, dark balsamic vinegar is higher priced.

There are a lot of people who are not sure what is the exact difference between white and dark balsamic vinegar. Dark balsamic vinegar will come with a slightly sweeter taste as compared to white balsamic vinegar. The white balsamic vinegar will come with an aftertaste. For most people, the only reason why they would rather use white balsamic vinegar is for aesthetic purposes, but the taste of these two types of vinegar is not really very distinct. Take note that white balsamic vinegar is not the same as the usual white vinegar because they will have different levels of acidity that will matter when you are cooking or preparing food.
