Stomach flu is also known as gastroenteritis while food poisoning is also called traveler’s diarrhea in a few places. They are both caused by a different agent like a viruses and bacteria.

Stomach flu is caused by different types of viruses which include rotavirus, adenovirus, norovirus. The symptoms of stomach flu include diarrhea, vomiting, fever, headache, and also abdominal cramps. These symptoms can last for about 1-2days and in some cases, it can last for a week or more.

One of the treatments for stomach flu is antibiotics and also fluid is to be taken regularly during stomach flu because a large amount of water is lost form the body.

Food poisoning can be caused by bacteria, parasites, and other toxic agents. The symptoms of food poisoning appear very early after consuming the food. It can appear at least 10 to 30 minutes after consumption. The symptoms of food poisoning last longer and also become more severe with time.
