Miss and Ms are two ways to address women formally. Miss is used to address a woman who is not married. It can also be used to address woman that are young. Ms is used to address woman of any marital status. For the most part, miss should only be used to address a woman that is unmarried. While Ms can be used to address a woman that is unmarried, married, or widowed. Another differences between these two words is where they are used. Miss is normally used in a school setting to address teachers. Ms is used is a business format.
