The mitochondrion is a membrane-bound cytoplasmic organelle concerned with the production of energy. The mitochondrion is called the ‘powerhouse’ or ‘power plant’ of the cell because it produces the energy required for cellular functions. The components of the respiratory chain in mitochondrion are responsible for the synthesis of ATP by utilizing the energy by oxidative phosphorylation, Apoptosis and other functions of mitochondria include storage of calcium and detoxification of ammonia in liver.

The chloroplast is found in plant cells, they are disk-like shape, it stores solar energy in the chemical bond of glucose, and it uses carbon dioxide and water to build glucose. It is a site where photosynthesis in a plant cell occurs. The chloroplast provides the green pigment of a plant. However, the chloroplast is the absence in the animal cell.
