Some may think that yogurt and sour cream are the same because they seem to be similar to each other in terms of appearance. They are not the same. Sour cream is normally made by adding bacteria and lactic acid to cream and milk. The cream and milk will then thicken and it will start to become sour. Yogurt is made in a similar way which can make it even more confusing for a lot of people. This time, instead of just using cream, only milk is used. Fermented milk will be very important to ensure that yogurt will be made properly.

Take note that the texture of the two and the consistency are also very similar to each other. Another main difference is its fat content. Yogurt will only contain about 10% to 12%. Sour cream contains about 20% fat.
