Most of the time, obesity is a result of overeating and living a stagnant lifestyle. It is also sometimes due to metabolic or hormonal disorders, such as hypothyroidism. There are two different types of obesity. These include android obesity and gynoid obesity. In the android type of obesity, the person will generally carry much of their weight in the abdominal area. These people are said to have an apple-shaped body. Those who are android obese are more at risk of having specific health problems, such as heart disease, metabolic syndrome, and diabetes. They are also susceptible to having high blood pressure. Gynoid type of obesity is where the excess fat is deposited somewhere in the hip and thigh areas.

Their hips are round, and their butt usually appears larger than normal. This obesity renders the person to having a pear-shaped body. On the other hand, this type of obese is safer than android obese in the sense that there is less risk for procuring diseases from their obesity.
