Zoloft or sertraline is manufactured by Pfizer and was invented by Kenneth Koe and Willard Welch. This medication is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor or and SSRI, went to market about 25 years ago and has helped many people with depression, PTSD, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder. Paxil or Paroxetine is manufactured by SmithKline Beecham and came to the market in 1992.

It is also an SSRI but is different in that it comes in regular dosing and a controlled release version. Both medications have similar side effects, including but not limited to nausea, vomiting, dizziness, weight gain, insomnia, and blurred vision. Most of these side effects occur at the beginning of the treatment and dissipate after a few weeks.

Depression can be hindering a person's mental and physical health. It can cause anxiety, extreme weight loss, or weight gain, as well as lead to suicidal thoughts or attempts. There are medications on the market to help with depression and the side effects that come with it. Two of those medications are Paxil and Zolof.

They both have generic versions of them, and both can be taken in tablet form. They can also be used for long periods of time. The difference between them comes to the dosage. When a person is on Paxil, it is recommended they take 10-60mg daily. If a person is on Zolof, it is recommended to take 50-200mg.

Paxil and Zoloft are two different kinds of antidepressants you can find in the drug market. They are usually prescribed to treat depression. Paxil is also known as paroxetine, and it can also help to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder aside from depression.

The name of the company responsible for the manufacturing of Paxil drugs is GlaxoSmithKline. In the early '90s, this drug was available for sale in the market, even earlier than Zoloft. The side effects of taking this drug include loss of appetite, anxiety, drowsiness, dryness of mouth, loss of sexual desire, diarrhea, trouble sleeping, and much more.

In contrast, Zoloft can also be referred to as sertraline hydrochloride. The company manufacturing this drug is named Pfizer, and the drug was approved in 1997 by the FDA. Aside from depression, this drug can also treat panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. The side effects of Zoloft are also those of Paxil's.
