There are some people who tend to become a bit confused with the different shapes that are available. Two of the shapes that people often get confused about is prism and pyramid. The shape of their lateral faces is different.

The prism will have a rectangular lateral face while the pyramid will have a triangular lateral face. Take note that they do have a similarity which is their lateral faces are usually facing their corresponding bases.

A pyramid is considered to be a geometric solid. It comes with a base that is shaped like a polygon and the triangles that it will have a common vertex. A prism would need to be named according to the type of base that it has.
