Karate and judo are martial arts that originated in Japan. Karate is a hard martial art where blows are sent to an opponent, while judo is a soft marital that involve body maneuver against an opponent. Karate does not involve round fighting, while ground fighting is an important part of the judo fight. Judo was created in 1882 by Jigoro Kano in Japan, while karate was created in china by Gichin Funakoshi, but Japan introduced most of the developments.

There are a variety of different martial arts that a person can learn. Two of those are karate and Judo. One of the differences between them is the class size that they are learned in. Karate can be taught and learned in large class sizes. However, with Judo, it is best to learn it in small class sizes. Another difference between them is in regards to self-defense.
