WGS84 and ETRS89 are the two most significant developments in the last couple of decades for the development and maintenance of establishing mapping parameters. There is both a reference system that helps to map out the earth correctly.

WGS84 is the most recent revision of the world geodetic system; it was introduced in 1984. The world geodetic system is a standard used in cartography and navigation. WGS84 uses the GRS8o ellipsoid as the basics for its parameters. The scope of WGS84 is known to be worldwide.

The European terrestrial reference system, which was completely in sync with the ITRS in 1989. ETR89 is utilized primarily in the European area. It is constantly monitored, maintained, and updated by the EUREF through its permanent network.

These are known to be reference systems. ETRS89 stands for European Terrestrial Reference System 1989. WGS84 stands for the World Geodetic System. Obviously, the number that is included will refer to the time when this was created which is back in 1984.

The main goal of these two reference systems is to make sure that the earth will be mapped out properly. The WGS84 is the standard reference system that is used when it comes to navigation.

The ETRS89 is normally just used for areas in Europe. This is one of the main differences between the two. The areas that they navigate are different. The WGS84 also has a wider range.
