OCD stands for obsessive-compulsive disorder, while OCPD stands for obsessive-compulsive personality disorder. OCD is an anxiety illness that is characterized by constant checking, rechecking, and counting. It is a behavior that you cannot help but enact because you feel that something terrible would happen if you did not. These types of compulsions include returning home to check if you closed the garage door, or if you left the stove running.

Also, counting something incessantly or arranging the contents of your kitchen cabinets in alphabetical order and continually cleaning or hoarding. If these behaviors are not repeated, the person cannot function normally. With OCPD, the main difference is that there is an inflexibility involved, as well as a need to be perfect. The main characteristics of this are strict adherence to the rules and the need to keep everything a certain way all the time. Someone with this disorder will often not like to give responsibility to others because of the desire to maintain perfection and order.

OCD is an abbreviation for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, which is considered a type of anxiety disorder in which the victim experiences a repetitive obsession and compulsion. An OCD patient becomes trapped in a repetitive thought; he is also preoccupied with distressing and senseless behaviors that would prove very difficult to overcome. While OCPD, on the other hand, stands for Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder.
