MS SQL and MySQL are two commonly used database systems with a lot of differences. One of the major differences between the two is that one is an open source program while the other is a closed source program. Unlike MYSQL that is an open source program, MS SQL is a closed source program.

What this means is that the development of MYSQL, which is an open source program, can be done by different people from different parts of the world. This also avails developers the opportunity to improve the entire program for different purposes.

In contrast, the development of MS SQL, a closed source program, is done in-house and cannot be improved any further by anybody except by those who designed it. Another difference is that MS SQL can only be gotten by paying for it since it is a closed source program, whereas MYSQL is available for free.
