The two major types of mandarin are tangerines and clementines. The botanical name for tangerine is citrus tangerine, as it belongs to the citrus family and also of orange color. Conversely, the botanical name for clementine is citrus reticulata. This fruit is a berry or hesperidium with the leathery rind and has oil in its cells.

The appearance of the rind (i.e., the outer covering) looks so smooth and shiny and is divided into about 8 to 14 juicy slices. You will most likely prefer this clementine to the regular tangerine, as they are sweet, seedless, and easy to peel.

Tangerines seem a bit different on this platform as they contain seeds and are usually of a kind of sour taste. However, when cross-pollination is carried out on clementine, they can produce seeded fruits. In addition, it is easier to remove the peel of clementine when compared to that of tangerine.
