A journal is a newspaper or magazine that deals with a subject. All the articles that are contained in a journal are original. A journal is not meant to be read by everybody since it is a publication that is structured and researched, along with a particular subject.

On the other hand, a magazine is a non-academic periodical publication that deals with topics or subjects that are meant for the general public. Things that are contained in a magazine are opinions of different writers about certain subjects, news, narratives, etc. Unlike a journal that is meant for specialists depending on the subject treated, a magazine can be read and understood by anybody.

A magazine may contain original research works, but current events and other existing topics can be included in a magazine. It is very common to see the name of the writer included in a journal, whereas this is not common in magazines.
