It can be confusing for some people to know what a troy ounce is from an ounce. When you say troy ounce, this means that it will have 2.75 grams more than the regular ounce that you may have. You know that if you would use a scale to measure these things, you will have something that is heavier than what you normally use.

If in case you want to know the exact numbers, a regular ounce will have 28.35 grams while the troy ounce will have 31.1 grams. Take note that even if the troy ounce is heavier than a regular ounce, it is still lighter than a pound. Some people think that it is in between an ounce and a pound.
