Growth and development have a couple of similar meanings, as well as other different definitions. Both growth and development refer to growing larger, taller, or physically different from before. Development and growth could refer to something transforming.

For example, you could say that someone is experiencing spiritual growth, which makes more sense than saying experiencing spiritual development. Whatever the case may be, growth is often seen as being positive. The development could be when someone goes through different stages and improves.

The term full-grown is used to address a sense of maturity. Any industry can be called a growth industry, if it is expanding. Development can also be taken to mean improvement in the level of functioning.
