Skepticism and cynicism are very closely related, but there are a few subtle differences. Skepticism is where you question, doubt facts and opinions, even with all the information presented in front of you. Skeptic people are often brilliant and free-thinking, and this is why skepticism is considered to be open-minded.

The main distinction between skepticism and cynicism is that skepticism can be thought of as positive, while cynical is thought of as being negative. By nature, cynics do not trust people. Being cynical means that you are not open to there being another way, and you don’t have any interest in hearing another side. Cynical people tend to have a negative outlook on life.
