There are differences between a memorial and a funeral. The memorial is a celebration or commemoration of someone who has passed away or a group of people who deserve remembrance. This practice can be done with a service or a plaque or even a wall. An example would be the wall in Washington, D.C. that commemorates lives lost the Vietnam veterans who have given their lives serving our country.

A funeral is a ceremony that involves the final goodbye to someone that entails the final disposition of a body either by cremation or full-body burial. This practice has occurred for centuries, according to the religious beliefs and customs of people around the world.
