Sushi and sashimi are two examples of dishes that are commonly served in Japan. Aside from the fact, both are commonly eaten in Japan, you might easily think they are the same. However, there are some differences between the two. Sushi refers to a Japanese dish made from sticky white rice that is flavored with vinegar, usually topped with vegetables, fish, or meat. On the other hand, sashimi is also a Japanese food dish made with different uncooked or raw species of fish.

Sashimi can also be made without using different species of fish; you can work as well as an octopus, a squid, etc. In fact, some people like making their sashimi using chicken, horse meat as their basic ingredients. While there are no other forms of sashimi, sushi has other types such as Western sushi, Narezushi, Oshizushi, etc.
