The fundamental difference between newspapers and magazines is that newspaper articles tend to be short and concise. They also usually focus on one particular subject or event. Magazine articles are longer, and they have the allowance to focus on a variety of topics. Magazines also encourage the creative freedom of the writer. The quality of the two is also different. Newspapers use inferior quality paper and ink to keep the prices down.

Magazines are produced on top quality paper and ink. Another difference between newspapers and magazines is that your local newspaper can highlight news from a particular city or county, which is a nice feature for the reader. Newspapers also zero in on important current breaking news. Unfortunately, the advent and universal reach of the internet and electronic media has somewhat derailed the newspaper business.
