Some people may assume that the CPA and EA are the same in the beginning, but there is a difference with their certification level. A CPA is known to be regulated at the state level while the EA is certified on a federal level. This means that CPAs will only be allowed to work in doing different tasks at the state level.

If there are things that they are capable of doing but are beyond the state level, they will not be allowed to work on those tasks anymore. CPAs can actually work on more tax services as compared to EA. If you need microfocus, you need to find the right EA to provide the needed tasks for you.
