In order to know the differences between the two, you should know their meanings first. LVN stands for Licensed Vocational Nurses while LPN stands for Licensed Practical Nurses. This is one difference between them, their names, but actually, if you would look at their practices and the tasks that they will be required to do, they would be almost the same with each other. Another difference is where the terms are used.

People normally use LVN when they live in Texas or in California. The term LPN is used to address people with this profession in other parts of the United States of America. There may be some minor responsibilities that are a bit different, but they are not too notable to point out.
