Groundhogs and gophers are often mistaken for each other probably because they look similar at first glance. One thing that you should know is that gophers come with hairless tails. They also have teeth that may be a bit yellowish or brownish. They also have cheek pockets and the things that they will do is to make sure that there will be enough food that will be stored. These are all of the traits that you will not find in groundhogs. Another thing that you can look at when you are confused between the two is the color of their feet. Gophers are going to have pink feet while groundhogs are going to have brown or black feet.
