If you would like to do foliation, you know that you can do this with the use of stress and fire. If you would do layering, you would need to develop this with the use of different deposits. You need a mixture of fine and coarse deposits to be sure. Foliation may occur when there are different minerals from pressure and heat. When you say layering, this may form because of the different seasonal changes that are available. Layering will contain different marks on them so that they will have a unique appearance. There are different types of foliation and layering that you will know more about when you get to know the details more.

Foliation and Layering are terms that are usually discussed when talking about the concepts of rock formation. These two processes are mostly discussed in relation to some processes during the formation of sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. Foliation occurs mostly in metamorphic rocks, and its processes are usually identified through the planar structure created when the sheets of silicate materials are aligned in a parallel form.

I guess you know that metamorphic rocks are formed from other preexisting rocks; however, the pattern of penetration created through the restructuring of some minerals is called foliation. On the other hand, layering is a common term used during the formation of some sedimentary rocks.

Layering is a process that occurs when there are layers of rocks forming over the other. When you study rocks with layering, chances are you will see different kinds of sentiments across the layers. Invariably, the patterns created by the two processes are actually their major differences.

If in case you would like to know what these two are, these are known to relate to the formation of rocks. The reason why they are different is they are from different rock formations. Foliation is a type of pattern that can be found in metamorphic rocks. Layering is the type of pattern wherein the rocks tend to form over each other.

There are times when this happens when small rocks start to form in sedimentary rocks. Sedimentary rocks usually form through the process of sedimentation Take note that for foliation, you can see that there are layers but for sedimentary, there are marks that will look like layers.
