Intention and motive are two words that are best associated with our actions. The intention is the aim of purpose or objective, while motive is the reason behind the action. These two words are very similar in terms of human behavior; although, there is a distinct difference between intention and motive according to the law.

In all courts, judges are more concerned in determining the motive behind the intent or criminal behavior that is demonstrated by the accused. It helps the judge and jury come to a clear and final resolution. Motive plays an integral role in proving the association between the person and the crime that has been committed.

The disparity between motive and intention also determines our guilt or innocence. In other words, if someone has an "ulterior motive" with you, it generally is not good.
