An eclipse happens to be a natural phenomenon that occurs when there is a temporal obstruction within the celestial bodies. A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon finds its way between the shadows of the earth. Lunar eclipse usually occurs during the moment when there is a fool moon. A lunar eclipse takes between 30 minutes and an hour, which makes it longer than a solar eclipse.

However, there are three types of a lunar eclipse, which are partial, penumbral, and total. We have a total lunar eclipse when the moon circles entirely within the earth's umbra region. In a total lunar eclipse, the moon will not be completely dark as such.

The moon can bring out different colors during a total eclipse, such as red or dark brown and bright orange or yellow. The atmosphere of the earth is usually the determinant of this coloring, and of which the moon becomes totally dark if there is no atmosphere.
