SCADA stands for supervisory monitoring and control in an organization, and HMI stands for the Human Machine Interface. SCADA has applications in manufacturing, production, refining, and power generation. HMI is used to connect with all the processes and then present this information to a human operator. The operator utilizes all info, and it monitors and controls all of the operations.

HMI is an extension of SCADA, and it is the space between human and machine. HMI is crucial to the success of SCADA. The input is analyzed by the operator to make decisions on the process appropriately. HMI is correlated with the databases of SCADA and provides information that is imperative for maintenance and troubleshooting.
