Most times, the reason why itch and scratch go together is that the effect of the former on the body will make the latter to be done. Itch is a sensation that can be felt on the part of the body, usually on the skin that will cause an animal or a person to want to scratch. There is no particular condition of the body that can be largely considered to be the sole cause of this reaction in the body; however, it is believed that an itch can be felt on the skin due to a lot of factors.

When you start having an itch on any part of your body, the first attempt any individual would make is to scratch the place so that the sensation can be suppressed. It is usually advised that scratching any itching part of one's body is not always the best, as you might easily damage your skin in the process, which can also lead to other forms of infections.
