Most times, when things that have to do with a lot of people are to be done, there are a lot of ways through which agreement is formed. Consensus and Majority rule are two important ways through which people form agreement. When you are talking about consensus, it simply involves the various ways by which people are made to come to a common term. A decision that will be made through a consensus must be a product of the mutual agreement of every individual that is involved.

When reaching a consensus, the opinions of the minority group must be respected, and the necessary effort should be made in order to convince them. On the other hand, majority rule simply refers to a process whereby a decision is formed in favor of those who have the majority of votes. For instance, this method is often used in the legislative house. In this case, the party or group with the highest number of votes will always have their ways when making certain legislation.
