Rotation is the process by which something will turn on its own. The rotation can be done slowly, or it can be done fast. Revolution is the process by which an object goes around another object for a certain period of time. The perfect example of this is the earth. The earth will usually rotate on its own axis, which explains why we experience day and night here on earth, depending on the side that it is facing during rotation.
Revolution occurs when the earth revolves around the sun. This is why there are different days that are available in a year. It takes 365/366 days before the whole revolution of the earth around the sun becomes complete.
