Since the year 1837, there are different laws that have been created in order to make it possible for civilians in America to own firearms. There are certain guns that will not be available to people immediately. For example, those who would like to own machine guns or guns with silencers would need to undergo FBI checks and would need different documents to ensure that these people will be allowed to own guns.
There are also some people who are restricted from owning guns. For example, those who are convicted of different crimes. Those who are also addicted to some substances are not allowed to own guns too.
There are some laws that are being followed by people in America so that they will know who can own guns. The Gun Control Act of 1968 clearly states that only those who are 18 years old and above can own guns. There are also some types of firearms that can only be owned by those who are 21 years old and older.
It should also be remembered that there are some rules that are being followed from state to state. Some states will be stricter about who can own guns while there are also some areas wherein the store will be more complacent about the guns that are being offered. Take note that non-citizens of the United States will not be allowed to purchase guns.
