This is a type of grouping that is normally used for buildings that are located in various areas and may be near or far apart. There are different settlement patterns that are available depending on for what it will be used for.

For example, the dispersed settlement pattern is generally used for buildings that are spread out in areas that are considered to be in the uplands. Nucleated settlement patterns are used for buildings that are located in the lowlands or plains. Linear settlement pattern is generally used to group buildings that are located in areas that are uphill. It has been said that settlement patterns were influenced by different landscapes.
