When you look at cupcakes and muffins at the same time, they may look very similar to each other. One main difference is the consistency of the muffin and cupcake. Cupcakes are usually beaten until they are smooth and creamy. When you bite into cupcakes, you will truly feel that everything is just smooth and easy to eat.

When you bite into muffins, on the other hand, it would be beaten but only for a short period of time. Most of the time, the muffin would remain to be lumpy.
