Viagra and Levitra are drugs that are used for erectile dysfunction. The chemical compound in Viagra takes about half-hour to start its course of action, and the effects last for about four hours. It was the first approved drug for this purpose and was discovered during a drug trial for pulmonary hypertension medication. It is in the class of PDE-5 inhibitors. PDE-5 inhibitors stop the action, which causes degradation of cyclic GMP in smooth muscle cells. Levitra, on the other hand, is not as well- known as a drug for this disorder. It is mainly used to treat ED, and the effects are said to last for a long time. This drug is effective in small doses of 10-20mg. The duration of onset biological action is low. Levitra tends to give a higher duration of six hours.

In case you are wondering what Levitra and Viagra are; they are drugs that have been selling fast in pharmacies for over a decade now. Let us compare the drugs together. The companies that are manufacturing Levitra are GlaxoSmithKline and Bayer, while Pfizer handles the manufacturing of Viagra. These drugs help to achieve a more stable erection by blocking the PDE5 enzymes. When it comes to the longevity of their functionality, Levitra remains effective for 24 hours, while Viagra lasts only for 4 hours. The working effect of Levitra is also seen earlier than that of Viagra. Though Levitra works longer than Viagra, Viagra helps to achieve a harder erected penis. Most men actually prefer using the latter than the former drug. When it comes to their maximum dosage, that of Levitra is 20mg, while that of Viagra is 100mg.

Levitra and Viagra are known to be medications that will be used in order to help men stay longer in bed. When it comes to their effects, they are known to be almost the same which is why some people may choose one over the other. Viagra is known to have a side effect wherein those who take it may have an altered visual perception of colors. Levitra does not come with this side effect. Viagra can take effect easier. Some would only need to wait less than half an hour before they start working. Levitra will usually require about 60 minutes or more before it would stop working. When it comes to other side effects, Levitra will also have fewer side effects as compared to Viagra.
