Canadian bacon and ham are two important food staples in America. Canadian bacon is obtained from the loin cut that runs along the pig's back, while ham is procured from the primal cut comprised of the leg, butt, and shank. Ham can be diced and thrown into chef salad, or it can be cut in slices and served for Easter dinner, and of course, the popular ham and cheese sandwich is another example. Ham is reserved for lunch or dinner, and Canadian bacon, on the contrary, is breakfast food. It is typically served with eggs or some other breakfast food. The BLT sandwich, which consists of Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato, is another beloved American favorite, and bacon also works in breakfast sandwiches. Shockingly, Canadian bacon does not have as many calories as ham, and it is also lower in carbohydrates. Canadian bacon contains more protein, while ham has more sodium.

Canadian bacon is obtained around the back of the pig, typically from its loin. For ham, it is obtained from the primal cut, which includes a shank, butt, and leg. Ham can be gotten in different forms, which ranges from whole form, slices, and diced chunks; whereas the Canadian bacon is only available in slice form. Ham contains some amount of sugar or honey, while Canadian bacon does not. When it comes to the number of carbohydrates, calories, and cholesterol, Ham actually contains a higher amount than Canadian bacon. Ham is also known to contain a higher amount of vitamin C, sodium, and calcium, while Canadian bacon is richer in protein. Ham contains less saturated fat than Canadian bacon. Generally, the former is usually consumed more for lunch or dinner, while the latter is well enjoyable for breakfast. Canadian bacon is usually served when soft and juicy. It tends to be tasteless when it becomes hard.

Ham and Canadian Bacon both come from some parts of the pig. Their main difference is the cut where they come from. Canadian bacon will come from the back portion of the pig while the ham will come from the thighs and the rear portion of the pig. Canadian bacon and ham are often mistaken for each other because of their similarities in terms of texture. If you would compare Canadian bacon with the usual bacon that you are familiar with, they will be different from each other. There are instances when Canadian bacon is smoked but there are also times when it is not. The appearance of Canadian bacon and ham may also be a bit different from each other.
