Hardwood has been used for many centuries, but laminate has been the more recent edition of the two floorings. Laminate is more popular, as it is a more advantageous choice than the other. Laminate is better at handling moisture compared to hardwood. In durability, laminate flooring is stronger than hardwood. Hardwood does not boast many layers that the laminate does. If hardwood is damaged, it is more difficult to replace than laminate. Laminate is also easier to clean using a brush or a sponge. Both of these types of floors scratch, but hardwood tends to scratch more easily. On the other hand, hardwood has a more natural impression on it, and the grip is also firmer. The main issue of concern is that laminate is cheaper than hardwood.

Hardwood and laminate are often confused with being the same because both look similar, but the truth is that they have different structures. The number one difference between hardwood and laminate is that the former is made with wood without any addition, whereas the latter is made with fiberboard with the addition of some photographic effects on its surface. Hardwood flooring seems to be a more authentic product than laminate. As a result, it is quite expensive compared to the laminate. On the contrary, the reason most people go for laminate is that it is affordable. Although both are durable and do not sustain scratches easily, however, hardwood flooring is more susceptible to scratches. Another difference is that it takes more time to clean hardwood flooring compared to laminate flooring. Although both are durable, laminate can only last for about 15 to 20 years, whereas hardwood can last for about 70 years and even more.

When you say hardwood, you are referring to the type of flooring that you may have at home. Hardwood is made out of 100% wood. Laminate, on the other hand, is something that you can place on top of your hardwood floor for extra protection. Hardwood can become damaged easily when you expose it to water and other elements. Laminate flooring will ensure that your hardwood will not get damaged easily unless the moisture will come from within. The layers of the laminate flooring will be placed together so that they will be placed on top of your flooring. The more durable your floor is, the longer that it can be used.
