Genes make up the structure of all living organisms. They transfer the data from one generation of species to the next when organisms of the same species mate and reproduce. This process is the relationship between the gene, the offspring, and their parents. Genes are a DNA sequence which is the unit of heredity located at a certain location on the chromosome. Every characteristic that you have, including your eyes' color and the color and texture of your hair, comes from a gene. Dominant genes always express the dominant trait, while recessive genes express the recessive trait. There are some significant advantages to having recessive traits as opposed to dominant. Unlike dominant genes, recessive genes are less prone to diseases.

Dominant genes and recessive genes are terms in genetic. Gene is a sequence of DNA from an organism’s genome that is the unit of heredity of living organisms. As human beings, we all inherited certain traits from our parents. This was made possible due to the nature of the genes we inherited from them. These genes determine so many things about us, mostly our physical features. A dominant gene or recessive gene determines whether a trait should be passed from the parents or one of the parents to the offspring. Every gene contains two allele combinations. A recessive allele is represented with lower case letters, whereas we use letters in upper case to represent a dominant allele. If a gene has both a dominant and recessive allele, the trait of the dominant allele will be passed. If it contains recessive alleles or dominant alleles, the combination is called homozygous recessive or homozygous dominant, respectively. A dominant allele will always dominate unless it is absent in a combination. On the other hand, a recessive allele will always remain dormant unless a dominant allele is absent in the gene

There are different traits that will be passed on from one generation to another. These are dominant and recessive traits. When you say dominant traits, these are traits that will come with a connected allele. This will occur even if there is only one copy of the dominant trait that is available. When you say recessive, this is a type of trait that can be expressed or will occur on the living being if both of the connected alleles that are present are recessive. There are instances when some of the traits that used to be recessive in some people start to become dominant in the next generation. This is always because of the mixture of genes.
