Paxil and Prozac are both used to treat depression. They are both Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors, which means they work on serotonin in the brain. The generic name for Prozac is fluoxetine, during the generic name for Paroxetine. Prozac is promoted and manufactured by Eli Lilly and Company, while Paxil is marketed and manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline. Prozac is approved to treat the following disorders: pediatric depression, bulimia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Paxil is indicated to treat major depression, anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder, and panic disorder, and it has been shown that Paxil causes some weight gain compared to Prozac. Prozac has been shown to cause somnolence, which is brain fogginess. The major drawback to both medications is that they can cause a low sex drive.

Paxil and Prozac are two anti-depressants used to alleviate the effects of depression. Prozac is one of the trade names of Fluoxetine. In contrast, Paxil is one of the trade names of Paroxetine. One of the differences between the two drugs is that they are manufactured by two different companies. Paxil is one of the products of GlaxoSmithKline. Prozac, on the other hand, is one of the products of Eli Lilly. Both drugs are usually prescribed to treat different kinds of disorders. For instance, Prozac is indicated for the treatment of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder, pediatric disorder, bulimia disorder. Paxil is indicated for the treatment of patients with panic disorder, anxiety, GAD or Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and other major depression. Out of the two, Paxil seems to have more side effects compared to Prozac. For instance, it causes a withdrawal syndrome in users. It also causes increased weight gain in users. There are also reports that Paxil is capable of increasing suicide thoughts in users.

Prozac and Paxil are known to be antidepressants that are sometimes used by people. Prozac is also known as Fluoxetine, while Paxil is known as Paroxetine. These are used for treating anxiety, depression, and so much more. They have different effects on people though, which explains why people would need to know more details about it before they take it. Prozac is known to cause some negative changes in the way that people eat. In fact, this may stimulate anorexia in some people. Paxil, on the other hand, will stimulate SSRI which is why some people may have insomnia after. Take note that you need to tell your doctor if you experience some side effects that are hindering you from doing your usual activities.
