Pilgrims were the first people to come into the New World. They were unhappy with the church, and they were separatists. The pilgrims who traveled on the Mayflower could not survive the bitterly cold winters or the new area.

Once spring came, almost half of the pilgrims had died; however, even though there were many hardships, the group survived and prospered because new pilgrims came and joined them. Pilgrims had religious freedom, while Puritans were strict followers of Protestantism, they did not want to follow the Church of England or it’s practiced.

Some of them remained where they were and chose to purge the system, while some went to the New World. The New World was considered a beacon for the upper -class people. They became quite well educated, which is part of why the Puritans came out in droves to the New World. There were better opportunities there.

Puritans and Pilgrims are both related in the sense that they have the same origin. They are two members of puritanism. This is a movement created to bring about the simplification of religious activities and rituals in Anglican churches. This movement preaches that people can only be saved through grace. The number one difference between puritans and pilgrims is that they have different founders. The first leader of the puritans was John Foxe. One of the main objectives of the puritans is to correct some anomalies in the Anglican Church. The puritans were not able to achieve some of their goals, which is what led to the separation of some of them to form the Pilgrims. They are often called Separatists due to how they separated from the puritans. Robert Browne was the man who led the pilgrims to establish their churches and doctrines. The pilgrims were the first to enter the United States.

It can be confusing to know the difference between Puritans and Pilgrims. Pilgrims are known to be separatists, and they have first settled in Plymouth in the year 1620. They have started to set up their houses in different areas. The Puritans should not be confused with the Pilgrims because they have started out ten years after the Pilgrims have started. There was a time when Pilgrims and Puritans used to have the same religion, but Pilgrims started to believe that there are some things that they do not agree with, such as the membership policies that are available that they believe will be different for true Christians.
