Fact is defined as a piece of information about a circumstance that existed regarding events that have occurred. It is saying the information that is verified to be accurate or had occurred. Fact is something that is generally agreed upon as truth.

Sometimes, facts change based on learning new evidence, which demonstrates a different truth. An example of this is that it used to be believed that the world was flat, and now we know that the world is, in fact, round. Fiction, on the other hand, is something that is created and authentic.

It does not represent reality, but rather, it is cultivated through the imagination. When referring to fiction, it is often characterized as entertainment of some form. It could be a novel or a movie that provides the reader or the viewer with a safe escape from reality. Fiction is never believed to be true the way fact is.

A fact can be described as a piece of information about an occurrence that has previously existed. It literally means ‘saying something that has actually happened.’ The word ‘fact’ is derived from a Latin word ‘factum,’ which means ‘occurrence or event, or something that was done.’ Fact is also a term that is used in the world of science. And if you consider something as a fact, it is not necessarily universally acceptable. For example, it was an accepted fact many years back that the earth is of a flat surface, but now it is no more acceptable generally. So, the fact is subject to change. On the other hand, fiction is typically not the truth. It is more or less an invented idea, an imaginative creation, or a non-actual fact. Fiction as a word is taken from a Latin word ‘fictio,’ which typically means ‘pretense or feign.’ Fiction is a product of the mind, created by imagination.

When you say fact, you are referring to a piece of information that is connected to something that is considered to be true. A fact is usually proven by science, or there are some details that will make sure that this piece of information is true. When you say fiction, this is something that has been completely made up.

This may have come from the imagination of someone, or this may be something that a person has made up. There are different categories that are under non-fiction. For example, horror is considered to be fiction unless a person is telling a story based on his/her own experience. Another category that is considered to be under fiction is romance.

The fact can be defined as a statement or piece of information to prove the truth or validity of an occurrence or situation. The fact as a word is derived from a Latin word 'factum,' which means the occurrence, something done, or event. Fact is definitely used to describe a situation that has come into existence, that is, an occurrence that had happened. Fact is synonymous to something being true, but the thing about the fact is that it might be true to someone and not true to the other, or it might be true at a time, and later considered to be false.

On the other hand, fiction can be defined as the creation of a thing based on imagination. Fiction is an invention of a thing that might be far from reality. Fiction is derived from the Latin word; 'fictio,' 'a feigning,' or 'the shaping action.' Fiction comes from a root word which means pretense or deceit.
