The film acquired this rating due to foul language, sexual situations, and violence. There is also some drug material in the movie.

An R rating means that viewers under 17 have to come to see the film with their folks or an adult guardian. It is being said that the Joker movie set a precedent that DC movies given an R rating can succeed at the box office. Birds of Prey is also the second biggest DC movie ever, next to Joker.
