There are many unique customs in all different religions and countries. Some of the ideas surrounding New Year's Eve may be considered superstitious. However, these traditions are all deep-rooted in the core belief: end the old year with hindsight and wisdom and start the new year by stating your intentions for a new beginning.

The holiday takes place around the time of the winter solstice, which is the turning point of the year. It has long been seen as the birth of the new year, pagans commemorate the return of the sun, and Christians trumpet the birth of the son of God. The days between the solstice and the new year are filled with hope.

The New Year's Eve is usually celebrated on the last day of the year. It is a social holiday, and it is celebrated in different ways. The religious aspects of it cannot be looked down upon because it is a day that one needs to engage his/her creator. On new year's eve, people engage themselves in different kinds of celebrations. Different social events will be organized for people to enjoy themselves. However, some people still believe thatNew Year's Eve isan important day for them to seek God's face as they start the journey of another year.

As some are celebrating the day in a secular way, religious people also go to their different places of worship to offer praises to God for his protection and provision over their lives. For instance, it is a common sight to see Christians going for different programs on this day. Most churches will organize a special service in the night in a bid to start New Year's Eve with God.
