How many Kar Sevak died in Ayodhya?

In September 1990, the Vishva Hindu Parishad, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, and the Bhartiya Janata Party campaigned for a new Ram temple to be built at the Ram Janmabhoomi. The Ayodhya firing incident describes the confrontation in which the Uttar Pradesh police fired live ammunition at citizens at two separate instances. The first being on October 30, 1990. The second was on November 2, 1990.

The civilians were religious volunteers called Kar Sevaks. They were gathered near the Ram Janmabhoomi site at Ayodhya. The state government's official records disclosed that sixteen people were killed. However, it has been speculated that there were far more casualties. A Kar Sevak is someone who offers their services for free to a religious cause. The term is obtained from the Sanskrit words Kar and Sevak.
