Adaptation means that something is able to come up with solutions in order to fit in with its present environment. This means that the person or the living thing was able to develop some behaviors that will allow it to thrive in the environment that it is in right now. Evolution is different because it means that there are changes that have occurred.

The living thing has been modified in order to fit in perfectly with its surroundings. For example, human beings are said to have evolved from monkeys, but the change did not happen overnight. It took different generations until the typical man has started to thrive on earth. People and other living things can adapt easily by following customs and traditions and by going with the flow.
