What is the difference between Sukiyaki and Shabu-shabu?

It will be hard to differentiate the different pieces of food that the Japanese used. Some may even assume that Sukiyaki and shabu-shabu are the same. Sukiyaki is not hot pot, whereas shabu-shabu is a hot pot. The main reason why people may assume that Sukiyaki is similar to hot pot, but actually, this is food that it is eaten out of the pot.

Hot pot also makes use of soup or stock, while Sukiyaki will only have a sauce in order to make the different pieces of food placed in the pot to become more flavorful. When people place food in a hot pot, their intention is to cook it while in Sukiyaki, the food placed is already edible as is.
