70th Primetime Emmy Awards, which aired on NBC, were hosted by Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update hosts. Colin Jost and Michael Che are two comedians best known for their sarcastic and witty digs at President Donald Trump and his administration. Before the Emmys last year Colin and Michael were interviewed, and the two men stated that their goal was to make the award show less political.

The lack of political slurs was a welcome departure from their usual roles on SNL. However, they represented SNL beautifully because they were joined by Lorne Micheals, who was executive producer of the Emmys last year. Critics and audiences said that it was one of the funniest award shows that had aired in a long time.
