The satellite began its voyage toward the moon, leaving the earth's orbit on August 14th. A critical maneuver called Trans Lunar Insertion, which was carried out by ISRO placed the spacecraft on "Lunar Transfer Trajectory." The spacecraft successfully entered lunar orbit on August 20th by performing Lunar Orbit Insertion Maneuver. September 7th was the scheduled date for the soft landing on the moon and Chandrayaan-2 is expected to orbit the moon for one year.
