MediaFire was founded 12 years ago, in 2006, by Tom Langridge and Derek Labian. It is a service, which allows the hosting and synchronization of files, as well as being a cloud storage service. MediaFire is based in the United States, and its headquarters is in Shenandoah, Texas.

It supports a number of operating systems, including Windows, Mac, and Android. Along with supporting a number of operating systems, MediaFire also supports a number of files on its service, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Image files like JPEG and TIFF, and media files. Since 2006, the service has reported over 43 million registered users.
